A few months ago, I told my step-father, Warren, about a great wide-angle lens for his Canon 300D Digital Rebel: the Sigma 12-24mm ultra wide-angle zoom lens. It’s ideal for the Digital Rebel because, like my camera, the Canon 10D, it has a 1.6 focal length conversion ratio, which means that your average wide-angle lens would not be so wide on these cameras. But this Sigma lens is so wide, that by the time you put it on a Canon Digital SLR, it works as a fantastic wide angle lens with a focal length of around 19-38mm.

On Christmas morning, Warren comes into the living room and sets up his tripod to take a picture of the tree. He mounts a lens on his camera; a beautiful lens. I ask him what it is…

%$&!#@?#!

He let me take it out and use it with my camera. Now I’m foaming at the mouth.
