At our old house in Pensacola, these little guys multiplied by the thousands during the summertime. They protected us from the mosquitoes that swarmed in the semi-swampy areas around our neighborhood; or at least they helped quite a lot.

I used to go out into my yard and see what I could find to photograph. The most interesting and beautiful things that I came across were these frogs, but there were usually only one or two, if any. Then one day, I was snapping some dragon flies, and on my way back in, in the corner of my eye, I spotted a bump on a branch of one of the elephant ear leaves that thrive in the water drains at the edge of our property. I looked around at the other leaves, and they were everywhere. These beautiful creatures stayed under the enormous leaves during the day; they provided shade from the blistering sun, and camouflage from their predators.

Suffice it to say, I had a photo frenzy.
