While taking some pictures in uptown Charlotte, I noticed a couple of men standing at the very top of one of the skyscrapers, taking pictures. I’ve been wanting to take a picture of the city from a high vantage point ever since I moved here, so my feet immediately began to march me toward this building.
I went inside with my wife following after. The building happened to be the Westin Hotel, and Monica suggested that I ask someone about it at the front desk. But why do that? They would probably tell me no, and the elevators were just a few steps away anyway. So up to the highest floor I went, with Monica giggling by my side. From there we came to the end of a hallway, where there was a door that indicated that it went to the roof. It was unlocked from the inside, and I checked it from the other side and found that it was also unlocked. There was a series of stairs, which we ascended, and finally came to a door at the top. At last, this was it…what beautiful sites I would soon capture, what picturesque wonders. I placed my hand upon the handle and turned…
#$%&@?!!!
One step away from victory, and the door is locked.
“Now,” I told Monica calmly, “I will ask somebody at the front desk.”
Turns out I have to call the executive offices and try to make scheduled arrangements. I hope I pick a sunny day.
I guess it was a pretty fun adventure all the same. Monica told me that I was her favorite person to get in trouble with.
