terrible winds rip enormous trees from the ground

This is another collection that got lost when my server went down. My wife and I evacuated before hurricane Ivan hit, and I took these pictures when I got back to Pensacola several days after. For this and other reasons, this collection doesn’t even come close to capturing the real devastation that the area suffered.

 there was barely a place to put your foot, much less walk 
 a tree leaning over, torn from the gound, threatening to crush a car below 
 siding that was torn from some building by the heavy winds 
 piles of wood all over the city, ripped from trees by hurricane Ivan 
 the army came to Pensacola to help with the relief effort 
 soldiers load emergency rations into the cars of hurricane victims 
 the army loads food into the cars of hurrican Ivan victims 
 a fork lift brings more rations to hurricane victims 
 drinks are loaded into a pickup truck 
 army jeeps 
 tree knocked down by the winds of hurricane Ivan

 utility vehicles lining up to restore the power in a decimated city 
 the army helps in the hurricane relief effort 
 a pizza place sells there food from a make-shift stand in front of their damaged restaurant 
 a spray-painted warning, telling looters to stay away
